First VW 2005 Jetta, getting new key and code

Hi all. I just acquired my first vw, a 2005 Jetta. Unfortunately it came minus a key so I was doing some research on immobiliser pin codes and happened upon this site. Hopefully a member here has had some experience with this problem and is willing to guide a vw noob :panic: :D

Is your 2005 a mk4 or mk5? If it's a mk4 you have immo3. If you have a mk5 you have immo4. The procedures are different. Also look at the mk5 FAQ pages for the mk5 key FAQ. http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a5/key-replacement-mk5-Jetta.htm Look at the immobilizer FAQ for how to get the SKC, step by step instructions are there.

Good luck! Also, since this post has some technical info, moving to the mk5 forum and changed the title to be more descriptive.
