AC Issues

Hello all. I'm hoping that someone can help me with this AC problem. I have a 2006 Jetta TDI with 95000 miles. The AC works when it feels like it. I have checked the pressures and all is good. When it works it works beautifully. Sometimes the compressor kicks in within minutes after turning on. Other times it could take as long as half an hour before the air is col. Moving all sorts of button combination to the control panel doesn't seem to matter. I think there is some sensor intermittent somewhere but how do I troubleshoot that? Taking it to the dealer is not an option. I do all my cars maintenance. I live in South Florida so AC is very important. Anyone fixed this problem before? Please help.

Welcome to the forum Jorge. welcometomyturbodies

So how have you checked the pressure with a normal pressure gauge, what pressure is it showing?

When was it last serviced or you probably have no record of it been done?

It doesn't have to be a dealer for an AC service there must be dozens of places near you in the States.

I have had a simular problem occur once in my 2010 jetta. No a/c warm or hot air worked all the controls with no luck came home checked all the fuses so the a/c had a break. On the restart the a/c came on right away and was cold scanned with vcds no codes. Never happened again so I'm guessing a stuck sensor. You should find someone with vcds and scan it and hopefully the problem threw a code mine didn't.

Still no reply from the OP?

I was looking at our new Bosch ACS 601 air con machine and the low pressure gauge goes upto 215psi and the high pressure gauge 500psi so did you use the correct gauges when you checked the pressures?

They state Air conditioning service every 2 years the same as VW.

I"m new at this so it took me a while to get back to my own post. With A/C running, low press was at 35 PSI and High side was at 245PSI. The A/C works every day the problem is how long it takes to come on. I read on a post that the compressor does not have a clutch instead, it uses an internal solenoid to activate it. is this true. If so, how can I troubleshoot this solenoid.
