Bluetooth Autoplay?

Perhaps this has already been resolved in the three years since I bought my Passat SE TDI, is there any way to stop the radio from automatically telling my iPhone to play when Bluetooth connects?

So, bottom line is VW has a software update to end the auto play Bluetooth problem. Great news. Thanks.

Don't remember the model number but it's the radio w/o nav. Regarding the disable auto play menu option, that only stops the radio from auto switching to Bluetooth as the sound source. The phone plays music anyway, you just don't hear it. Many people with iPhones never even realized this was going on. Don't have Android so can't comment on that but thanks anyway for the suggestion.

I've got the same one, the RCD 510. You get the top radio but not the nav.

There is a software update to the radio. I researched this, the problems are automatic play on bluetooth music, high volume bluetooth, and mono playback for streaming music.

Sorry to break your heart, but listen closely...streamed music is in mono.

The recall needs be done through the obd-2 port, somehow...so you can't VAG COM it at home.
I gotta get mine to the dealer before any mandatory software upgrades appear elsewhere.

Thanks for the details speedlaw.

I can live with mono, provided it contains the combined audio from both channels. If it's just the right or left that stinks.
That's a problem the update fixes, not has. You should have glorious stereo!

I discovered that auto-play setting and turned it on, not knowing what it was for. As soon as I found out it instantly began streaming my phone, I turned it back off. Pandora does actually sound pretty good over my RNS-510 and Fender system. Hey, I actually found something that works well with the -510!
