Hey guys. I'll get right to it.
2006 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI 5 speed manual, BRM, with 198.000 miles.
Just bought it, did cam inspection, needed changing, also did timing belt kit and tandem pump gasket. While in there i pulled the intake manifold out to clean. Replaced air, fuel, oil and a/c filter with MANN filters. Checked plugs resistance, all appear fine. New gaskets all around, oil pan resealed/cleaned. Checked turbo, no shaft play whatsoever. So its been in the shop since i bought it, didnt see much driving.
This was happening even before i did all the work to it.
In 1st gear, from about 1200 rpm ish, if i go anywhere near the gas, car shudders, make lots of diesel clutter noises, tons of black smoke behind me, car shakes, if i blip throttle, kinda play with it, if i get to abou 2k-2.2k rpm, then a SPIKE of boost comes on, suddenly pulls strong, and just drives normally ( as long as rpms are like higher than 1800-2000).
Had code for o2 sensor. Replaced it. I tested the EGR valve, it seemed not to open fully, so just to get that out , i put new Pierburg EGR valve, so thats good.
Still doing it.
I go to check for vacuum leak. Disconnect hose from the Valve on the turbo, and at idle i'm getting a constant 20 inches of vacuum ( i hope thats normal).
I connect to the valve on the turbo ( the one that controls the vanes), apply vacuum by pum, at about 3-5inches the rod starts moving down. Holds pressure. So diafragm is good.
I did a Live Data of boost actual/specified, i have the video ( i pulled over and filmed the scantool); that was me going through 1st 2nd 3rd gear, or just 1st and second.
It seems pretty good, but i need an opinion on that.
THEN, i did the Charge test, where it revs the engine to 1400rpm and it varies the boost, and if the difference is more than 80-250, then the adjustment screw needs adjusted - OR the ZIPTIE MOD.
Here is how my charge test looks like:
One thing that i have not done yet is to perfectly adjust the Torsion Value after i did the timing belt ( Torsion Value is -0.98 at idle, need to get it to +0.5) - I will do that, but i dont think that will affect the car to do the shudder thingy.
So my charge test difference in values is around 310, wich is more than 250, so theoretically i need to slightly tighten the adjustemnt screw, RIGHT? And then RED the Charge test, and bring the difference at the middle , between 80-250 , so that would be like 170 , right? Or with the ziptie mod, try and achieve the 170 value on the charge test, THAT SHOULD SOLVE MY PROBLEM ?
I need the pros here guys, i'm running out of ideas.
Asside from this , the car runs perrfect ( I will make a topic of presenting it, it drives amaizing, interior is like new , everything is good about it, except for this problem).
Is there anything else that could cause this? I believe i tried everything, and with new o2 sensor and new EGR valve, i 'm se to have a perfect A/F Ratio. ( I'm planning of getting a Malone Stage 2 after i makle sure shes running perfectly)
HELP !
