Why does RNS 315 cost a fortune for non-sunroof JSW?

Hi all - I'm new to this forum (my second post). I just bought a 2011 JSW TDI. It came with an RCD 510 radio (I did not want want the package with moon roof, 17" wheels, MDI and navigation since it's so hot in Florida.) Now I find out it will cost more than the whole package if I just want the RNS 315 Navigation with the MDI!!! $1900 for the RNS 315 and $450 for the MDI! This seems really unfair. I don't want another brand. And don't really want to take a chance on EBay (besides they don't have any).

Question: any ideas on how to get an RNS 315 fand MDI for less through VW. And why is VW discriminating against us non-sunroof worshippers like this!!!? It seems really unfair.

Thanks very much.

You can get an MDI kit for $220 shipped and the RNS315 market price looks like it's around $700 shipped. Swap them in and sell your RCD radio, the market price is around $400 so the final price for this upgrade is quite reasonable.

Huh? WHERE can you get them at those prices???? Please enlighten me?
Thanks very much.
If you are doing it yourself get the RNS 510. you can grab them off ebay for $700-$1000 and the MDI for less than $200 as well. it's the easiest install ever. Sell your RCD 510 for $400-$500 and you'll be golden.

I did the same thing myself. The sunroof in the JSW is just too big and the shade is crap.
