"Volkswagen's World Premiere of the New Compact Coupe Hybrid Concept Car at the 2010 NAIAS
Wolfsburg, Germany / Detroit, MI -- January 11 2010 -- For Volkswagen, this marks the beginning of an action-packed year, in which more new models will be introduced than ever before in the company’s history. First on the spectacular list of new products for the 2010 calendar year is a car based on entirely new concepts and technology, a coupe with a hybrid drive that is extremely fast and yet futuristic in its fuel economy. It has sports appeal and sharp styling yet is remarkably elegant - positioned between the Europe’s bestselling sports car, the Scirocco, and the internationally successful CC. Its name: the New Compact Coupe (NCC). Site of its world premiere: Detroit, Michigan at the North American International Auto Show (January 11 to 24). Combined fuel consumption: 4.2 l/100 km* (45 mpg**). CO2 emissions: 98 g/km. Perhaps even more incredible, considering its fuel economy, are its top speed of 227 km/h (141 mph) and the short 8.6 seconds it needs for the classic sprint to 100 km/h (0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds)."

Moved to general discussion. I can't wait to see what it looks like. I think the new Golf looks much better than the mk5 Rabbit aka. Golf. I'll bet the next Jetta also improves.

Is this a jetta coupe? It must be a prototype because it looks way upmarket....and the hybrid thing too ;) There's no way the LED lights are going to be on the standard car.

I really like the taillights. They look like the Audi A4 lights.

The interior looks like it's production ready

WoW!

Pictures show a great looking automobile!

However, one of my first thought (since looking at the Golf TDI) was how much are the dealers going to want over MSRP for this one.

This is just a concept but :thumbsup:nana2:

It looks like a mini A5. Good job on the design and I feel most of it will carry over to the production car. The headlights and taillights really look good. I hope they don't have LEDs though, it's too trendy and will look dated in 5 years.

It definitely has a Euro feel to it. I'm not a fan of hybrids though. The prius is the only one which seems to sell well. I almost never see accord or civic hybrids.

I really like everything about the car. It looks a bit low which doesn't address one of the main design problems on VW passenger cars - low ground clearance, especially on the oil pan. IMHO, the oil pan should always be at least partially protected by the subframe or bumper and not sticking out below everything. It looks lowered because of the gap between the tires and fender lip. In production from I'm not sure how good it's going to look with 16" wheels compared ot the rest fo the body but I'm liking it so far! The only other problem is that it's starting to get too close to Audi in the looks department. If you took away the VW badges and swapped the steering wheel for an Audi one it could pass for an Audi.

PS, try to limit pic size to 15" so that it doesn't suck up internet bandwidth and so it's easier to view.
