I can't seem to be able to remover the valve cover. There is a piece on the turbo that is blocking it. Do I have to start dismantling the turbo stuff too?

My motor is a stock 2004 New Beetle with the pump dusse motor BEW.

I'm new at this forum and working on this motor so please bear with me.

thanks.

No, the turbo doesn't have to be removed. Do you mean a plastic intake hose? If so, yes, remove it. When you remove the valve cover, make sure to rotate the camshaft sprocket so that it's not interfering with the cover. There are pics in the PD camshaft inspection and removal article.

yessir, I found it and think I got the situation in hand. I am gonna spend the next night or two putting back what that sorry manual I bought told me to take off. I'm still trying to figure out why I was supposed to remove the power brake vacuum booster pump and the valve cover.

Again thanks. I got the right parts ordered and tools to do the job.

Joe.
