I have some jetta specific pics that will be added later, the jetta doesn't have the flap blocking the transmission so it's actually easier.

Do you have the part number for the harbor freight engine support?

No, but I know that theirs is about $40, the northern freight one was $60. I didn't see the harbor freight one until after I already ordered the northern freight one because they don't list everything in every catalog.

Is it possible to just support the engine with a jack from below instead of that bar?

Is it possible - yes. Is it recommended - no. You are removing 2 out of 3 motor mounts. The engine can swing back and forth and in worst case, fall onto you. Get the engine mount. You can even just take a bar and hang chains from it. The advantage of the engine support is that their lifting arms are screws and let you raise or lower the engine a bit.
