Does anyone know if the UK models also have a 100k interval for a timing belt change? I have a ALH 2002 Golf which had it timing belt changed at 70k last time, but I've since heard that VW upgraded components to allow a 100k interval.
The timing belt change interval for a 2002 Golf ALH is
Timing belt - Renew Every 80000 miles or 48 months
Timing belt idler(s) - Renew Every 80000 miles or 48 months
Replace timing belt idler 038 109 244 H with timing belt idler 038 109 244 M, at additional charge. No further scheduled replacement is necessary.
So it appears they do a modified belt idler that you only change once.
