i'am new to this site and very impressed with the pictures & detail
some of you have gone to helping each other out.
Iam attemping a timing belt replacement on a avf engine.its a sep 2001 vw passat sport
with 180,000 0n it.just wondering is it similar to the bhw engine

Hi, I don't think so, I'm pretty sure the bew is a newer engine but I'll have a scout around to be sure.

Just had a look round and bew is the engine code like yous is avf and mine is agr and I think the bew engine is just for america.google it
