In the TDIclub.com forum someone got the idea to file a compliant with the Federal Government of Canada and I jumped on that.

Enough is enough, we are going to have to force Volkswagen's hand here because they don't give a rat's ass about 2010 TDI owner's in Canada. I'm in to my wagon for 40K taxes and financing included and my dealer offered to put in the Volk-L unit. That's sweet of them but that unit is a piece of garbage. Volkswagen should do the right thing and at the least offer a proper 9w3 retrofit kit that seems to be floating around out there but is difficult to get. Everyone out there with VW Bluetooth problems, take two minutes and fill out the this form, it's super easy.
Volkswagen gave us a problem, let's give one back

I wish you luck but it's hard to get publicity unless it can make the news and get people to question the VW brand. What are the reasons why they should give you the better bluetooth? Did they advertise something that you paid for and did not receive? IMHO, if they just said "bluetooth" then all you get is basic bluetooth. What is the Canadian law this is covered by? What are the key words that you think should be included to bring the most attention to this complaint?

I'm not questioning the VW brand I'm questioning the inferior unit they want to install in my car. And they promised the highline bluetooth module which allows to dial out using the car's MFSW and MFD, not using the phone. As for Canadian laws.

Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and Nova Scotia already have such laws on the books.

Manitoba's cellphone ban is expected to be proclaimed into law next year

So for Volkswagen to be socially irresponsible and sells fully loaded cars without PROPER hands-free units is crap. You think if a police officer see's me dialing out on my Cell Phone that they're not going to give me a ticket?? You try it. These laws include Texting and as far as I'm concerned Volk-L and 9W2 are not hands-free and anybody that thinks so can drive back and forth in front of a police station and dial out using those two units that Volkswagen provides us. Me, I'm trying to change things, so fill out the form or don't complain.

The more people complain the more things are gonna change.

Unfortunately, this sounds like something that the dealer would have to take care of. VW lists the specs. If the dealer told you something different that's their fault for telling you before you signed the dotted line.

My solution - Ban Bluetooth in Cars

Using a cell phone while driving is not safe - whether it is handsfree or not. Bluetooth should not be an option or standard on any car.

120% agree but people will do it anyways so I think it should be standard on every car and increase enforcement of violating a DWT law. You can't do any kind of lock while the car is in motion - what if you're a passenger and want to make a call? You shouldn't be playing with the radio either but people do that too.
