I want to replace cooling temperature sensor but I can't locate where it is? I have a Haynes Repair Manual book but it is not clear. My car is Volkswagon Jetta TDI 2000. Does anyone know please give me advice? Thankx

It's at the back of the head at the gearbox end and an awkwarsd sod to find but once you get the hang of it it's easy to do.:)

It's easier to just pop it out with the plug still connected then take it off after, there's flat plastic clip that just slides in from the gearbox side, you pull that out then the sensor just pulls out, you have to make sure the o'ring has come out or the new sensor wont go in properly and also a fair bit of coolant spills out.:)
