Hi everyone, I am little confused why some people are removing valve covers to adjust first two lobes in the up positions when doing their TB? If camshaft's window is in the up position does that mean that the first two lobes will be in the up position?
the toothed window on the camshaft coincides with the #1 cam lobe being up on the PD engines. the hub on the cam on that engine is keyed to keep it that way. if that window is up you do not need to pull the valve cover to verify the lobe position.
HOWEVER, it is wise to pull the valve cover sometime before you do a timing belt to inspect the camshaft for wear.
