I have a 2002 Jetta mk4 TDI that has a problem with the tail light (running Lights) not working. I have changed the bulb and still no light. What are some good ways to trouble shoot this problem?

Make sure the plug is seated correctly. The headlights had some problems with loose plugs.

So one works and the other doesn't or they are both out?

Check the fuses.

Tail light not working

I have taken the bracket out to change the bulb. I tried to make sure that the bulb was seated correctly. I think that I pushed the conector in to make it seat. Only the driver side is out. Brake light and backup light are working.

Try swapping the driver's and passenger's side bulbs. It's possible the bulb is bad. There was a brake light recall too but I'm not sure if it would cause this problem.
