Hi,

I was wondering if someone could advise how i can switch out clusters on a 2001 VW Golf cluster in KM to US Miles/MPH.

It should be plug-play as long as you sync the immobilizer and code it correctly so that the car knows you changed it.

Does the Canadian cluster have mph in small markings too?

yes the canadian and american both have kmph and mph

In my opinion (having changed an instrument cluster myself) it is not that simple unless you already have the pin codes for both clusters, if you have those, then it's quite painless. If I were you, I would try swapping faceplates from a US cluster onto your Canadian one. My guess is that VW might have the speedo needle still move the same amount. Easiest way to test is see what the highest Miles are that your Canadian cluster lists and compare that to the highest mph listed on the US cluster. Then later on you could swap the odometer to miles via your instrument cluster's coding.
