Hello Folks,

First time poster here. I just acquired 2000 Jetta GLS manual with blown 2.0L engine. I have to take out old engine for major repair, and i was thinking of replacing it with diesel engine alltogether, as i know a guy who is selling his 2000 Jetta TDI for parts. I've done engine swaps before, but never diesel into gas engine car. I wonder if the mounts are the same and suspension components are specific to diesel due to larger weight. Thanks!

You guessed it - suspension is different due to weight. I wouldn't want the aluminum oil pan hanging down more than necessary either.

You'll also have to change the fuel tank, fuel lines (all under the car and pretty easy to do), ECU/instrument cluster, engine wiring. Mounts across all 4 cylinder are the same (not manual-auto).

If you do it, please take some pics and share your progress!

I also believe you'll be swapping the accelerator pedal since, if I'm not mistaken, the 2.0 used a manual cable-controlled throttle vs the drive-by-wire diesel pedal.
