Anyone had problems with the sunroof randomly opening? On my car at very random times the sunroof will tilt up slightly, and often times after a few seconds shut itself again. Any clue as to what's up with this?

It's possible that the sunroof switch is worn out. This causes the contacts to wear. If it's anything like my Audi switch (I haven't looked at the Jetta switch) after you remove the cover and switch, just bend the contacts a little.

hmm...that's interesting. you would think there'd be issues starting if the battery was on the way out, but it's definently a viable option as i think it may still be original. i've only had the car for a few months. It only does the sunroof thing like once a week or even once every two weeks. Very strange.

As CCBB said, it's usually the contacts on the rotary variable resistor that get dirty... Just yet another wonderful design feature from VAG...

sunroof

I too have had the sunroof do some goofy openings, or partial openings etc when it was cold and there was someiced over conditions (frost) on the top of the car. I've read on other forums of the windows doing the same kind of thing, dealer couldn't figure it out and a battery disconnect solved the problem. These cars are definately goofy. I sure wouldn't get another based on my ownership of a purchased new 2006 Jetta. My 93 toyota truck was more reliable and trouble free.
