Just got back from the mechanic for what I thought was a simple ballast change, but I was wrong. Now I am not a mechanic and have very little knowledge on cars and their inner workings so if my questions seem silly please forgive me!

The problem was an electrical problem they said that 12v is going to the left xenon light, which they said was normal. But only 5v is going to the right xenon light. And in my experience when its an electrical problem it's always been a nightmare!

My question to you is, Is there a way to retrofit normal halogen headlights to avoid this problem. It might be cheaper!

thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I'm running Xenon bulbs on my MkV Jetta and sometimes wished I had the old halogen bulb instead. That said the wiring harness that contains the wiring for the Xenon bulbs is not easily retro-fitted to use the halogen bulbs. Suggest doing a schematic check to see what is drawing the voltage down. It's going somewhere. Also what type of VW do you have?
