Any opinions on using stainless steel replacement bolts for the left axle on my automatic transmission golf? The bolts that came off of it are a ferromagnetic metal of some sort. I see a bit of corrosion on some of the threads on a few of the bolts. The stock bolts are triple square 10mm. The SS replacement bolts are a 10mm hex head.

I thought about using some anti-seize on the threads when I attach the axle.

Am I asking for trouble?

Thanks... Just got in from work. I was thinking that I would attack it today. I actually found a left axle from a scrap yard off of a gasser beetle. It's hard to find new aftermarket axles for autos.

Thanks for the tip about replacing the bolts every time. I stripped out the heads pretty good getting the axle out.

I got the ss bolts from a supplier who provides miscellaneous/hard-to-find bolts, bits, nuts, etc. to the refinery I work at.

Ideas where I could get more OEMish bolts other than the stealer? My bolt guy didn't have anything like the 10mm triple square fasteners. All he had was a similar thread/head size.

I actually got the junkyard axle installed...but now I have a clicking from the same left side that was replaced when I turn left. No noises when I turn right.

This is what I'm bolting up to. Left side, front drive axle looking into the space where the axle goes.

Agreed. I'll find some more stock bolts. I have to replace the junk yard axle again anyway.
