New to VW diesels. Bought a broken 06 Jetta for a project - cheap- mileage 197k. Would not turn over - seller said bad starter. Ah, actually timing belt lost about 15 teeth, intake 2 valves bent. Removed engine, resurfaced and rebuilt head. Bottom end pretty solid. New timing belt, water pump and tensioner. what a learning experience.
Some how figured out how to reinstall engine, matched up wiring, add fluids. But would not start/run. Used LiquiMoly purge to remove air in fuel system. Bingo, started right up. Purrs like it should. Next morning, black oil floating in expansion tank- flushed system 5-6 times. Now running pretty good. No oil in water or water in oil. Lucky lucky me, Need to finish mounting front plastic. Looking forward to 45-5o mpg
Sure will beat my truck at 15 mpg even more expensive fuel price
