replacement mirrors for 2011 A3 tdi

I'm looking for some replacement Aspherical mirrors for the A3 Tdi. Does anyone know the part numbers or successfully changed them out on a 2011 model ?

I ordered some from ECS, but they are a slightly different shape and wouldn't fit. The attached photo shows the right hand side mirrors, the one on the left is from the car and is longer and thinner than the replacement part.

Thanks

Jon

Post the part numbers off the existing mirror. It should have at least 9 digits. Here is a little about how to read part numbers: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/VW-Audi-part-numbers-system-explained.htm

Then I can tell you what they're from.
Left Hand Mirror ( Driver ) 8K0 857 535
Right Hand Mirror 8K0 857 536 D

The car was manufactured July 2010 and we've had for about 10 weeks.
From what I can tell, the stock mirror should be:
dvr: 8k0 857 535 d. 8K0857535 was superseded by this part number so the numbers below should be the direct replacements
pass:8k0 857 536 j. Same with the pass side.

The Euro convex mirror should be:
dvr: 8k0 857 535 e
pass: 8k0 857 536 f

The Euro wide angle blind spot mirror should be:
dvr: 8k0 857 535 f, or 8k0 857 535 h (auto dim)
pass: 8k0 857 536 g, or 8k0 857 536 g (auto dim)

Looking at the part numbers, it appears that they are different for 2010 vs. 2011. I can't tell you if there really is a difference because I haven't looked that closely but the first group is different which tells me they are not compatible. This is probably why your mirrors don't fit - ECS probably thought the mirrors were the same for 2011 and this is also the first I'm hearing of it. Please follow up if this is confirmed.

Could you take a picture of the front and back of the side view mirror to share what they look like? I would like to add the picture to the FAQ and I know some people here have 2010s and they could look at it as well.

Thanks for all the help.

Hopefully I can track them down online, or from a dealer in Europe, I'm glad I don't have the auto dim versions as the replacements are very spendy.

Here's some photos of the mirrors.

Thanks for the pics, I will add them to the FAQ. It looks like a few switches got more chrome trim for 2011 as well.

FYI, it looks like the mirrors are from the Audi A5. 8k in the first number group is for the A5 and I went back to the parts catalog and verified that the external plastic housing and the mirror glass are the same for model year 2011. I have no idea why they made this change. The second style of Audi A3 mirror was new in 2008 with the body refresh, this would be the third style.
I have a 2011 A3 Quattro and got mine from:

Alexander van Gerbig @ Europrice
Web = http://www.europrice.us
Email = [email protected]

A3 Aspherical Mirror Glass - $193.24 pair
Shipping - $22.50
Total - $215.74

They also take Paypal!

Your order will take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to arrive via FedEx International services directly from Europe to your location, but be aware it could take longer. You will receive notification when items have departed with tracking information. All items are professionally packaged and insured for the full value of the items shipped.

Chitty,
Not being an owner ( yet - still shopping ), I have sat in both 2010 and 2011 A3 models as well as the new Golf Vl. In the 2010 model I was struck, and somewhat bothered by, what seemed to be a bit of vision obstruction between the A pillar and mirror at about 11 o'clock. (The Golf has a slightly lower window sill and consequent mirror mount, providing much better vision over the mirror. ) The new mirror on the 2011 A3 seems to allow a slightly lower positioning ( maybe an inch ? ) which does seem to allow for better sight lines and visibility over the top of it, and behind the A pillar. What do you think?
