I recently had the camshaft replaced in my 2006 Jetta TDI (245,000 km).
I keep a fairly close eye on fuel economy and after a couple of tanks, it definitely seem like I'm getting 5 to 10% less mileage per tank of diesel.
I barely understand what a camshaft does, and what replacement entails (though I recall them saying that "lifters" were replaced along with the camshaft). Anyway, unless it's my imagination, I now occasionally experience engine "hiccups" and hesitations when starting at lights and stops signs etc.
Is there something that could be out of adjustment after a camshaft replacement? I just don't want to take it back and have them say, "Nope, definitely not anything we did".
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Dave
