It'll fit 2 ways but if your engine was running it'll only fit 1 way at TDC. If your engine was running and it fits at TDC there's no need to remove the VC. It's better than the older tool since you don't have to remove the VC. Those bolts can get rounded and dirt can fall into the engine and it saves time to use the newer one.
