I have 2006 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI engine code BRM. I wanted to know if anyone has problems with camshaft or lifter follower wear?

Very common problem, I had my cams and lifters replaced 40,000 miles ago, and removed my valve cover a few days ago, already showing signs of significant wear. I'm vey displeased with the design. Its very important to use the correct oil, my preference is 5w 40 synthetic, keeps cams lubricated better than 30 weight.

40,000 miles and showing wear already? That's not very good at all, I sometimes wonder what vag are thinking of these days. I'm on 140,000 with my older non pd engine without issues like this and my friend totally neglects his mk3 Golf tdi and it runs sweet as a nut. Sorry for your problem.
