There is a 2009 prius wagon planned. What's the point? If you need a bigger car, they have the camry hybrid ad won't it rob the prius of fuel mileage?

Maybe they will use an extra large battery cell to give it longer range on battery!

They were planning on expanding the prius line to a few models, this will be the first.

It makes good business sense to draw on the strength of the prius name.

On the other hand, diluting the prius name might weaken brand perception of toyota as a whole It could go either way.

I don't know, I feel that Toyota is getting stretched thin. Less than perfect Quality Control that they have built a reputation for, less than good average fuel economy, these growing pains will catch up with them.

If the big 3 weren't strapped for cash, then they would have a good chance of regaining lost market share now.
