It makes sense to compete with the Fit considering how big the Golf has gotten.

Report: VW Polo To Arrive in U.S. in 2011
GENEVA — Volkswagen is preparing two unique versions of the new Polo for North America — a compact sedan and a tall-roof, four-door hatchback with the proportions of the Honda Fit. The new models could arrive in the U.S. in 2011, according to a top VW executive.

VW unveiled the redesigned Polo hatchback earlier this month at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, where Automotive News interviewed Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen of America.

Jacoby told the publication that a U.S. edition of the new Polo would be taller and would ride on a longer wheelbase than the European model, which goes on sale in June across mainland Europe.

"It's more like a cross between a compact minivan and a hatchback. In other words, it's more like the Honda Fit," Jacoby said.

He said the U.S. version Polo must be priced between $13,000 and $15,000 and will likely be assembled at VW's plant in Puebla, Mexico.

Yeah it makes sense. That's exactly why VW won't do it:nana2:
