I have a 1998 New Beetle TDI with 294,000 miles. It is factory stock.

Replaced the timing belt in November 2009 using the deluxe kit and rental tools from (the excellent) MetalMan Parts.

In May 2010, replaced the lower control arms, struts and shocks using a kit from a non-listed supplier. My mistake. It worked but was disappointed that the kit wasn't complete - even though I was assured that it was. Also did a complete brake job with new pads, rotors, rear calipers and a new steering knuckle - all from MMParts, and a tool or two from MetalNerd.

Am in the process of replacing the flywheel/clutch assembly and rear main and front transmission seals. (Parts from MMParts - of course - and a tool or two from MetalNerd). Am using the Bentley Manual (from local library), but want to make sure I'm not missing something important.

Thanks to those who have posted the EXCELLENT How-To Guides on this site!

Why the bold?

Bold and Bold Italics are style elements that are used to attract attention to points of interest to the writer and - potentially - the reader.
