I'm looking to upgrade the stock headlights on my mk5 Jetta. I like the DEPO brand R8 headlights with the LED strip inside the light. They are for sale on ebay and parts4euro.com with a few pictures but nothing with them installed on a Jetta. My main concern with these lights is if the LEDs will be bright enough during the day to show up well as DRLs. Also, I'm wondering if the LEDs in the fixture can be replaced if they go out. Does anyone have these lights on their car? If so, could you post some pics of them on during the daytime and at night?

Here are the links to the lights I am talking about:

FYI, when you copy/paste links make sure to copy paste the whole link. I think the links were copy/pasted from another forum because there are dots in the URL. As seen, they're showing up as invalid so here is one of the correct links:

http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/product_info.php?cPath=1_37_104&products_id=751

I can't see the ebay link.

I can't tell from the pictures but based off other aftermarket headlight assemblies I've seen, the LEDs are most likely replaceable.

Thanks Chitty, you are right. And yea i'm not shure if they are parallel to the ground or not. It kinda looks like in both lights they are curved a little. Either way I will find out but I need to see these on a car to determine if I like them. Even if I do, i'm not shure I want to have headlights that have a couple LEDs out after a few months.

Hi guys,

I know that this thread is quite old but I couldn't find anything related to my question except this one, so I decided to continue and post it here. I bought these same lights not too long ago because my original lights have turned yellow/faded and I have had it restored several times but it would just return to yellow after a few months. So I decided to do a little mod and went for this look.

It is pretty much plug and play, however I do need help as to how I can take advantage of all the lights on the new ones. The original lights has 6 pins and the new lights came with 9 pins, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can connect the additional 3 pins?

Just to update, I got everything working but not happy with the lights. It looks nice but the projector light was vibrating and its obvious, everything was done correctly and the lights were not broken in any way. All the supports and bracket were intact and tight. So I wasn't happy with it and will be returning these lights. Currently, I'm looking at maybe just retrofitting my original lights with the MINI H1 projectors and replace the faded/yellow plastic covers with new ones. We'll see how it goes.
