The car is running very rough. scantool shows code 00550, I can delete it and it shows up again on next start. Yesterday the car was fine werd . All I did on the car was ''Fuel tank venting FAQ and vent removal procedure'', and removed cover of the timing belt to see if everything is ok. :dunno

Possible Cause:
Wiring.
Fuel injection timing solenoid.
Injector needle lift sensor.
Air in fuel system.
Fuel level low.
Pump timing.

I can assure you that it's not related to the fuel venting. If you nudged a wire that was already chafing, it's possible that removing the timing belt moved it.

I'm not sure about this as I don't know the year of your Passat GT (please add this to car spec) or engine code. Some 1.9 TDI PD engines don't show the injection pump been driven of the timing belt. The Passat (88-96) 1,9D TDI 1993-96 Engine code: 1Z does and there is a locating pin in the IP pump pulley VAG No.2064 which is probably just a 6mm or 8mm parallel pin. A Camshaft setting bar - VAG No.2065A.

There will be a write up on here for timing belts changes try a search?

It's a 1Z engine. Also there is a DIY about timing belt change, but nothing on fuel pump adjustment.
Also I tried to locate the hole where sprocket is inserted, but it's not there. Can injection be so much off?

Yes that position is correct but is that someone else's picture?

Timing the pump is different to timing the pump to the belt.

You still haven't added the year to your car spec Wheeler97?

Yes, that's the picture from the 1Z/AHU engine writeup here.

If you have a 1Z engine, I assure you that the hole is there. Put the engine to TDC and you should see it, maybe you are looking at a dirt smudge on the flywheel instead of the correct stamp mark?

You can only move the injection pump a little bit. There is something on fuel pump adjustment, it's at the end of the writuep.

Well, everything is fixed. Timing belt has skipped and that was the problem.I think it must have happened on startup.
