Hi TDI members, My prime '93 T4 Westfalia has come to the point where, at 27 years and looking ahead, I wanted the economy, convenience and mobility of my old Westy but in a newer, updated package. T4 campers like mine are still common and valued vehicles on the West Coast, but one can see the older Vanagons succumbing to age, and so with the T4s.
As Canada now allows vehicles of 15 years of age to be imported, I have found a premium, one-owner T5 California, with full chequebook service history, 190,000 kms. in Germany and in the process of it being containered to Vancouver. To date I've found only one other in all of Canada and as nothing past a 2001 T4 were imported to North america, will have to do some independent sleuthing for parts and maintenance. The thought of throwing myself on the floor before the scavenengers at VW Canada is not enticing. I'm hoping that this forum will help with the kind of knowledge and resources I'll need to keep the 2.5 AXE engine in serviceable reliability. My other vehicles include a Perkins T6-354 diesel in my old Danish Apollo 32 cruiser and my rebuilt '74 TR6, so you can see, I am a bit of a glutton for punishment.
cheers, Doug. Right side_6941.jpg

Sorry it isn't my job to welcome new members anymore as I've always done that should be done by the only new mod for this forum has bjr72 if he does his job correctly.

This is a new forum layout which is owned by a company last year that doesn't give a dam with loads of bugs which have been reported in the new thread. There is no TDI Wiki at the moment or original similes which they refuse to install. It doesn't show the car spec/location.

Add your car specs to your signature that will show on every post you make.

Car spec now shows not for all members.

This has been talked about many times.

I've made a poll which no one has posted in, there are a few votes and comments.

Do you like the new forum features?

Wiki pages have been restored as of 7th December, I asked where is the link it should be on top of the main forum.

Hello Keith, I simply posted my introduction as the Home page suggests to new members, not to you or anyone in particular. It seems that someone with greater fluency to the overall system or push with the platform owners needs to straighten things out or move to a more compatible server/platform. regards, Doug

Hi Doug.

I don't see anything on the home page that suggests new members make an intro?

The home page shows nothing useful.

This is the home page I've always used.

It won't show my home page as the links are the same mine has /forums/ at the end.

Keith, Actually, at this point I don't really care. The website asks new members to write an introduction after registering. See the attached. I didn't invent it, nor did the several other members following my intro note.

If you didn't intend to make an intro I would have posted in your first post.

The fact that you did intend to make an intro proves my point.

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Well, Keith, if you look at my screen shot you will see that it is indicated as "New Member introductions" and below it appears that you wrote - presumably the same charmless reply - to those new members as you did to me. So I do really see what you are going on about, but maybe you should just "get on". Seriously, you aren't the appropriate person for the job. "rules and all!" Doug

You are stating the bleeding obvious.

That is what this thread title shows that's all.

Members don't read all thread titles they just post their problems if they are new members.

You still haven't added you car spec to you signature so we know which model your talking about when you post you problem in thread.

The Caravelle is Transporter which there is no sub forum for so post your problems in general, which you may have done without searching for your posts.

Keith, I don't know what your problem is, but I think we can arrive at a solution, most of which is you ignore anything I write and I will gladly ignore you. Perhaps you can discuss it further with someone who cares. Seriously, who writes the way you do as an administrator, like an old school marm with a yard stick? Go away.

Just click on his name and click ignore. That's what I did and I have been much happier.
