Hello long time vw diesel nut. It all started with an 81 rabbit diesel pickup in college (2009). 10+ vw diesels in stock now most in need of repairs or scavenged. 3 mk1 pickups, 1 91 Jetta eco diesel, 2 mk4 alh wagons on the road. B4v tdi x2. Many parts mk4 Jettas and a golf
Now I'm in the market for a new b7 Passat tdi. Leaning towards a manual. Looking for experience with these rigs as I am faithful to my mk4 wagons but growing family = bigger car (want a Passat wagon but alas no b7 wagons in USA).
Questions:
1. What are the problem areas with the b7 rigs besides emissions equipment.
2. I read vw is extending the warranty on emissions equipment for 120k miles. Any details on that?
3. is there a timing belt write up for the b7?
4. Is this as bad idea I see them for $6k with autos and around $8-10 with a 6 speed?
