How will this effect the storyline? Only 8/16 episodes have been done.

"Lost" will return next month after an absence of eight months, but fans of the TV drama may still feel deprived because of the Hollywood writers strike.
The series, like other dramas and comedies, faces the possibility of a season cut short by the strike, now in its sixth week. Eight episodes of "Lost" have been completed for the series' return Jan. 31 — half the number originally planned, ABC said Friday.

The network announced this year that the series would end in 2010 after three more years of 16 episodes each.

Lost" viewers can expect at least a mini-cliffhanger ending, no matter how long the season, the network said.

The stranded islanders were last seen in the May season finale, when they managed to issue a satellite phone call for help that, it appeared, could bring them more trouble.

The tonight show and late night with conan obrien writers have all been fired too. All the writers have to reapply for their jobs, no new shows planned.

PS, what storyline???

HEhe, see the lostipedia and it will all be made clear.

Lost is one of those shows which changed the face of television. There's so much behind the scenes and storylines that add to what you see on TV that you have to really learn that stuff too to appreciate the story.

That's the problem, can a casual viewer really appreciate and understand WTH is going on:confused:

Yes! There are two levels, people who study the backstory and casual viewer, both can enjoy.

The one thing that I can't understand is the season split - they have 6 episodes, then take a few weeks off, then another 6 new episodes...it's confusing enough already!

Well they're playing commercials for Lost again...I've forgotten what the show's all about. If they just had more consistent episodes, they'd probably get higher ratings too.
