Hi,I just bought a used 2006 jetta tdi with 143k at the auto auction and new it had touble when the back bumber was covered in soute. Drove home with no power and every hill I hit you could not see behind me (HA HA). I thought maybe someone timed the injector pump wrong on a timing belt job but not the case since the pump is not there like the 2000 model I done. I will replace all conponents since I here. Im wondering about how to check turbo, could anyone lend me some advise.
2006 jetta tdi, just bought and auto auction, lots of black smoke when going up hill but no power. Does anyone know how to test turbo? or some things to test. need help.:bowdown:bowdown
Take off the lower intercooler pipe. If lots of oil comes pouring out the turbo is leaking from bad bearings. You can confirm this by taking off the pipe at the turbo and wiggling the turbo. If it's loose it's bad.
What kind of mpg are you getting? Does the engine otherwise run fine? Idle ok?
When was the timing belt last done? Smoke is either fuel or oil, which is it?
Thanks for the info, I done some checking and the cam is shot. will install a new one tommoro (im excited) building the cam gear puller tonight and should have it done late tommoro. Thanks for you input.
