Bought my first TDI last month. Takes a little getting used to driving the diesel in comparison to the petrol based Golf. Some questions:
1. I need to let it warm up a couple of minutes? It doesn't want to run smoothly from a straight start every time.
2. How to break in a diesel? Not quite sure if it's different from the petrol engine. The 6 speed DSG really, really shifts fast. I find that the engine speed rarely exceeds 2000 rpm during my drive to work and back. It seems to like to hang out around 1200-1400 rpm. Is this hard on the engine?

Thanks,

1. No, in fact idling is bad for your new engine. 30 seconds of warm up time is the most I would recommend.

2. Here are some general tips: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/engine-break-in.htm You do want to gradually let the rpm go up and down and if the DSG isn't doing it, do it manually. 1200 is too low unless you're coasting down.

No need to let it warm up for a few minutes just get in and drive it. If it doesn't run smoothly then take it back and explain to the stealer whats happening.

2011 Jetta (Golf) can't you make your mind up what you've bought? Its either a Jetta or a Golf not both. ;)

The 2011 wagons are Gettolfs I would say they're Gettas but they're not like the Jetta any more so it's not a Jetta with a Golf bumper.

Ok yet another US trick.

Ok yet another US trick again because of the stupid 40 character rule ;)
