99.5 TDI Jetta
My engine light had come on and off for about a week with code P1550.
Symptoms:
No acceleration at freeway speeds
Intermittently sluggish acceleration in the city
From stop, no boost for a few seconds and then it takes off, and then no boost at each upshift for a few seconds, and then it takes off again.
I did a bit of reading about the problem and thought it might be a turbo, N75 solenoid or vac line issue. I noticed my vacuum lines were all old and frayed-looking. So, I replaced all of them yesterday because that was the easiest place to start, reset the code, drove around town with a noticeable improvement and no CEL. I also ohm-ed out the N75 and it is within range (from what I read) at 17 ohms, and it is getting voltage with the key turned on.
I drove 300 miles today, the light came back on about 100 miles in with intermittent acceleration issues in the 50-60 mph range. It is also very sluggish up hill and won't hold cruise control up a hill.
I usually get right about 50 mpg. Over the last week I got 40, but today's trip was a little better at 45.
The new codes are P1161 and 1156 (IAT sensor) with 1550 reoccurring. Maybe a MAP issue? Where do I start? I am not too terribly experienced with this car. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
