I just sold my 2005 MKIV Jetta GLS Sedan TDI and recently took over a 2010 Jetta Sedan TDI with 14,500 miles. Car only came with one key so I'm here to learn how to program more if possible! Love the site.
Ah...the problem is that the new 2010 doesn't work with the key code retreivers that I've seen. For the new cars, I am not aware of any way to get a spare yourself. My suggestion is to buy a cut key online using your VIN number and have the local dealer program the new key. This will minimize the cost to you, make sure all keys are present when the program the new key.
