I live in northern NJ ,I have a 2006 vw jetta tdi 5 spd manual with 97000 miles,I was getting ready to do the timing belt this weekend, I followed DIY procedure on removing the valve cover first to check camshaft ,I just found out that i have the cam lobe wear problem you show on your how to forum. I have not noticed any problems with idle and the car runs fine.I use motul 5w40 every 10k miles. looks like i have to fix that issue before replacing timing belt.

Do you know if the replacement parts fix this issue or can i expect to have to replace camshaft/lifters every 100k miles ?

Did you have the car from new? Thicker oil will normally help prevent this. If you contact Franko6 through the members list, he does some modifications to increase oiling at the cap bearings. This is not a factory method so do at your own risk.
