Hello, new to this forum. Love VW's though. My sister just purchased a used 1999.5 jetta. She used the valet key to open the doors and start the car. Then, her boyfriend opened the hood, and tried to open the trunk. Now, it will not start, nor will it recognize any of the 2 switchblade style keys. Dealer was not helpful. (Said to tow in). Is there a way to reset the immobilizer without going to the dealer? Have both keys in addition to the valet key.? Anyone?

Thanks

Quickly and 100% success and without knowing your SKC number, no.

There are some basic troubleshooting steps you could try and if you could get the SKC number you could try the instrument cluster trick. If you don't know your SKC you have to get it, see the FAQ Seatman linked for this info.
