After 6 months of research and stumbling on a great buy, I finally got my first TDI!! I ended up with a 2000 Jetta TDI and it is pretty much a basket case. I was able to drive it 250 miles home and also the 120 miles round trip to work today, so I guess its not that bad.

Lol my car was a bit of a basket case too when I first got it but it's all running great now. What sort of problems are you having?

Well sadly the turbo just went out yesterday ... at least I think??? Also the front bearings are growling like mad and I have no reverse...
Hopefully the reverse is a semi simple problem, The tree in the transmission with the golf club looking thing is very wobbley, so I just have to figure out how to tighten it up.
Yesterday I was driving and the turbo started whining real bad. Suddenly it stopped whining, I lost alot of power, and I was belching white smoke out the exhaust :eek. I pulled the hose going to the intake and it had alot of oil in it but not an alarming amount, so I think the turbo is dumping oil right into the exhaust.

I look forward to reviving this car to its former glory, and also getting good fuel mileage for my 120+ mile round trip drive to work. :thumbsup
