Hey guys, just bought our first VW. Its a MK4 TDI with 322,000 and we plan to make it see 500,000! This car is awesome, especially when you upgrade from a Hyundai Acccent - but I would like to give a very big THANKS to the man who created this forum! What a help!

Wow...even with 322,000 miles it's better than the Accent? Check out the mk4 new buying guide, try a suspension refresh and it'll feel like a new car!

FYI, one more thing that you may want to do with that many miles is change the oil pump chain and tensioner. Basically, while you're doing a timing belt job, remove the oil pan and crankshaft sprocket. You have to use a counterhold tool to loosen the sprocket and its bolt is 1 use only. Then it's all there. With that many miles it can wear out, it's good insurance to make it to 500,000 :)
