Hello, I'm preparing to do a counter-balance and timing belt replacement in a few weeks in a 2005 Passat TDI (BHW engine). Gathering tools, parts, and info right now.

I drive a 2005 Jetta TDI. My wife drives the 2005 Passat TDI wagon. We bought the Passat earlier this year with just over 100,000 miles and have no history on the timing belt. Since I don't want to make any assumptions, I'm changing the belt and while I have the car apart, I'm going to change the balance shaft assembly also. The car should be good to go for a long time after this.
