Hello all. I have a 2006 Jetta 1.9 TDi. Engine Code BXE. Just 85,000 miles on the clock now and im thinking of replacing the timing belt. Is it difficult to replace on this model?
It is probably similar to the BRM engine. The most difficult part is supporting the engine so that you can remove the motor mount. Take a look in the FAQ at the BRM engine timing belt writeup, it should be similar.
Don't know the BXE engine but continental and gates are OEM equivalents for the TB and alternator belt. If you look at the VW belts they normally print who made it, which I think is gates (can't remember)
