Hello, I'm a new member to this forum...been on Diesel Bombers for a year or so, found this today. Looking to do the timing belt job on my 06 Jetta TDI...I've got abuot 93,000 miles, no problems, just want to get it done, the dealership quoted $1,250, almost fell outta' my chair! I think its highway robbery. Read the tear down instructions part 1...tried reading the installation and didn't have access. lol. said I had to have at least one post...so this is it.

Thanks for any help-
Dan

Welcome! That is quite a different driving experience between the two cars. A nice introduction is worth saving the dealership labor prices don't you think :) In all fairness, remember that they have to pay shop overhead, insurance, taxes, labor, and have some left over vs. someone working out of their garage.

Yes you should as you are 13k over due.

Correct this is you first post so you should be able to access part 2 now. ;)
Atta boy!

There's nothing like the prospect of a hefty bill to push us into learning.

May you succeed at the belt change...and enjoy learning in the process.

Fortunately, the 2004 Jetta I just bought had the belt recently done. Now I can turn my attention to some of the other "catch up" maintenance :)
