New Member with PD Golf

There seems to be some diagreement on whether you need the tensioning tool when changing the timing belt or just use a hex wrench.

I'm looking for information on experience with what is needed.

I've always used a 6mm hex wrench. The Bentley manual says to use the 2 pin spanner tool for a number of PD engines and the 6mm hex for others. I don't see any difference because they move the same piece of metal the same way.
