I just found this site and it looks very very informative.
I have had my 06 Golf TDi around 6 months now and have been very pleased with it. It had 37K on the clock and is in great nick. I have heard that there are strong arguments for modifying the EGR setup by plumbing in a catch can to filter out the gunk going back into the engine. Any thoughts?

Mods - I have a Superchips Bluefin remap and a cold air intake. Audi 9 spoke alloys, GTi suspension and brakes.

Hi, welcometomyturbodies.

I've heard good and bad myself but haven't tried anything personally. I've seen some people getting more mayonaise type gunk from condensation in the oil but then I've seen a pic of a catch can with a pile of gunk in it.:)

A catch can won't filter out stuff going back into the engine, it releases it into the atmosphere. By routing them back into the engine, it burns up the oil mist. It also lowers EGT which is good for the engine and lowers NOx.
