I got directed to this site today and decided to join. Extra sources of information is always good.
I'm from Raymore,Mo and have owned my 2002 Jetta sedan TDI for almost 2 years. It has the "dreaded" O1m automatic with 188,000 miles on it. No real issues. Replaced the serpentine tensioner today. Checked the alternator sprag clutch pulley. It felt surprisingly good. I couldn't get it off, so may have to
revisit the generator and pull it for removal on the bench sometime later. Dave

I have the Metalnerd tool for removing the generator pulley. I just couldn't put enough muscle into it while it was on the car to get the pulley off. The o1m has a poor reputation on the tdiclub.com site.
Maybe driving it like you stole it has something to do with that. :D
