Hi everyone and thanks for creating this forum! I just bought my first VW a few days ago - the 2011 Golf TDI (Canadian model). It's gray with 6 spd standard transmission and multimedia upgrade. So far I'm just loving it. The handling is great and there are some neat improvements over the manual transmissions that I've driven before - like the anti-roll function when you're on an incline. I've also discovered that it won't stall in 1st or 2nd gear if I have my foot off of all of the pedals. In fact, I was in 2nd gear in a parking garage yesterday and the car was climbing the ramps all by itself (my feet were not on the pedals). Is this normal for this car? Other cars with manual transmission would just stall in this circumstance.
I also have a question about the Ipod multimedia cable. I noticed that my songs sounded quite "muddy" and were actually distorted with noise when connected to the ipod cable. The songs are not distorted when played on my ipod under other circumstances (e.g., headphones, docking station). I tried a friend's ipod on my cable and it was distorted too in the same way. When I copied my same songs to an SD card and played them through the car's system there was no distortion. There is no distortion when using radio, sirius, or CD either, so I'm pretty sure it's not the speakers or sound system in general. I also tried to unplug and re-seat the cable connector at both ends. Anyone have any ideas? I am planning to call the dealership tomorrow.
Thanks,
Wilma
