I just joined myturbodiesel.com
I have a 2002 Jette TDI that has lost the software to the RFID
I have driven a 1997 JEtta diesel and have not encountered this problem before.
The car starts but it dies right away.

Welcome. Do you see the yellow flashing car-key symbol? If so, it's an immobilizer problem. It could be in the cluster, wiring, antenna, or key. You have to narrow it down before passing it off as a chip problem.

Flashing immobilizer

Yes the yellow car-key symbol is flashing.
The car was working fine but the battery crapped out and now it will start but wont stay running.
Is there a way to bypass the immobilzer all together?

Yes but it requires an ECU reflash by a tuner. Try some of the troubleshooting steps in the FAQ article and if not, get error codes to narrow the problem down.
