Been reading different forums since I got my 04 tdi auto 3 years ago just never joined on till now.
The reason for joining one is to find people to help and learn to do stuff on my own,The dealer tried to stick me 3 times and got me once with. $280 oil change and fuel filter WHAT $ 300 for limp mode, "Whats limp mode, did it twist an ankle and you soaked it in warm water or something" Air flow something. They hate me know once I figured to ask questions and read up on stuff to bring knowledge with me.
My 2004 has 89,000 and runs good. I think its time to start looking at longevity maintenance and upgrade a few things:
Needs brakes soon seen a few other jettas with rusty brake rotors and wonder whats better out there keeping longevity in mind ?
Need TB done whats the best parts to get and can a girly wirly do it herself ? dealer tells me $1600.
Need to find shocks been reading koni reds or bilstien tc will it get the car off the ground alittle more ?
My engine is dirty what can i wash it with?
Been using scheaffers oil last 2-3 years about every 8k friend of mine sells it read its good for my car, read about Cam inspection going to see if I can do it myself and (see what I can break) this weekend heard my year has a problem looming. whats Better if needed ? No car if perfect
read Chipping helps drive-ability ? Cost?
Who can I call for live questions in a pinch?
Need better lights feel I'm fighting with the cars with blue lights what the heck are those , I know I do not want those for sure ?
Seat Heaters Passenger side does not work, Funny my work mate brings a hot towel with her to sit on when Its my turn to drive.
Few drops of oil from right front corner of car?
These are a few things Ill be looking to figure out other wise I love the car, so far the best car I ever had and want to keep it going.

I assume you have read myturbodiesel.com faq plenty of suggestions & answers. I got my timing belt parts from dieselgeek.com complete kit, idparts.com is another good site they sell brake packages etc. I got my chip from kermatdi.com as well as injectors a little costly but a totally different car. A local auto parts (auto zone, pep boys) can sell you upgrade bulbs which are alot brighter than factory. It sounds like you need to do some maintenance first before mods.

If your mechanically inclined you can do a lot of the stuff you need done yourself
I'd suggest though you find a good shop (forget the dealership) and get you TB parts at Idparts (http://www.idparts.com/catalog/) it'll save you
some $$$.
Rusty brake rotors? that's a normal thing and happens from not driving for a bit, say a few days
I'd have the brakes actually checked out to see if they need replacing. again Idparts has good stuff.

I am not connected with Idparts but have used them several times, they are fast, safe and not a bad deal.
They have all the stuff a girly wirly could ever want to fix up and spice up her TDI.

You might also check out Diesel Geek (http://www.dieselgeek.com/servlet/StoreFront), more cool stuff like suspension, TB kits and Panzer Plates for our TDIs.

Happy motoring!

zinc coated rotors will keep the rust off the hat for longer but the discs themselves are wiped clean by using them.

Sure, check out the instructions in the FAQ section and see if you can do it.
A girl on an internet forum? :bowdown
How wirly are you
? :needpics: oh I went there :D

+1 aspect ratio tires will raise the car a little but degrade handling. If you have 16" wheels it's not that bad, 15" wheels with +1 tire size is approaching clown car looks, w/17" wheels not noticeable. Shocks really don't raise the car since the springs support the weight of the car. I'm told the Bilstein HD's spring seat is slightly higher than stock which also raises the car a tiny bit.
My engine is dirty what can i wash it with?
Disconnect the battery, cover the alternator and belts, and you can use gentle soap+water. If you do this, use compressed air to blow dry water out of any electrical plugs before reconnecting the battery.

Varies but you can contact kermatdi.com to start asking questions, they are a forum sponsor and can at least answer some basic questions.
Who can I call for live questions in a pinch?
Try a local garage or if anyone is feeling brave, feel free to share your contact info. This is a free website so I don't share my personal contact info.
Need better lights feel I'm fighting with the cars with blue lights what the heck are those , I know I do not want those for sure ?
Those blue lights are illegal aftermarket headlights. First, make sure the lens is clear. Take a look in the FAQ for writeups on polishing the headlight lens. There are slightly brighter headlight bulbs like sylvania silverstars but to get much brighter you need to convert your headlights to HID. Get some aftermarket headlights with a projector and drop an HID kit in. It's not the best but it's cheap and works without blinding other drivers. Don't put a HID kit in stock headlights because they aren't designed for it.
Seat Heaters Passenger side does not work, Funny my work mate brings a hot towel with her to sit on when Its my turn to drive.
Few drops of oil from right front corner of car?
Probably oil seeping from intercooler, normal. A lot of oil sitting in the intercooler could be something more like a leaking turbo. A little oil is from the crank case vent CCV system which settles in the low spots.
