Thanks for the introduction. Look through the 2004-2005 VW Passat TDI new owner checklist and buying guide in the FAQ section. There are some things in there which you may not have heard before and important service intervals like the timing belt. One common reliability modification is to replace the oil pump/balance shaft. These have been noticeably problematic with higher miles and failure will result in a damaged engine. Other than that these are pretty reliable cars, welcome!
